We are seeking an experienced and highly connected Business Development Manager to drive growth in refined products across key countries in East and Southern Africa. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of regional demand dynamics, be embedded in customer networks—especially within mining, industrial, and transport sectors—and have a strong track record in managing complex supply chains and participating in competitive tenders.


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop and expand the refined products business (Diesel, Gasoline, HFO, Jet) by building strong commercial relationships with end users, distributors, and last-mile logistics partners.
  • Identify fuel demand profiles and anticipate customer needs, especially in hard-to-reach or underserved industrial and mining zones.
  • Participate in tenders, RFPs, and direct negotiations with commercial and institutional buyers.
  • Originate, structure, and close supply deals aligned with regional needs and logistical realities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (trading, operations, finance) to ensure seamless execution and high service levels.
  • Assess and monitor regional supply chain capabilities, including storage, transport, and delivery networks, to identify opportunities for optimization and future growth.
  • Represent Energetech at industry events, customer meetings, and networking engagements to enhance market visibility and customer intimacy.
  • Work closely with leadership to support commercial expansion strategies and deepen market penetration.


Skills & Attributes


  • In-depth knowledge of refined products trading and distribution across East and Southern Africa.
  • Strong commercial instincts with the ability to identify demand opportunities and design solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Proven experience with last-mile delivery models, storage networks, and tender processes.
  • Excellent relationship-building and client management skills across mining, industrial, and logistics sectors.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, self-driven approach and ability to work with minimal oversight.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving commercial and operational priorities.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Trade, Economics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years in business development, commercial, or trading roles within the refined products space.
  • Experience participating in fuel tenders and developing supply strategies for B2B or institutional customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow commercial relationships and manage accounts across multiple geographies.
  • Existing network of customers, suppliers, and logistics operators in East and Southern Africa.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with CRM and trading tools is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the region as needed.
