Assistant Storesperson

Job description:
Purpose
- Keep accurate records of stores receipts and issues and maintain set minimum stock levels.
- Submit reconciled stock counts to the Team Leader Stores on a monthly basis.
- Control the security, tidiness and physical order of materials in the stores.
- Exercise personal discipline and maintain high standards through productivity and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep accurate records of stores issues and receipts and maintain set minimum stock levels.
- Enter materials received into a stock record/program and storing in various storage areas, this includes; materials for plumbers, electricians, builders, carpenters and construction sundries in allocated storage areas.
- Scrutinizing of materials to be ordered against what is available in the stores.
- Updating of stock management program for issues and receipts daily
- Physical Stock take in all the store areas and reconcile to issues and receipts
- Housekeeping in various storage containers
- Submit records and reconciled stock balances to the Team Leader Stores on a monthly basis.
- Reconcile stock on a stock program and submit report to the Team Leader Stores on or before the set date.
- Report stock variances (over/under) and provide reasons for such variances on or before set date of each month
- Writing and issuing of gate passes for incoming and outgoing materials
- Coordination of Transport for labour and materials to various sites
- Management of contractors’ labour assigend to stores & their time sheets
- Weekly reporting of plant/vehicles status to management
- Exercise personal discipline and maintain high standards through productivity and attention to detail.
- Be punctual and well presented at all times.
- Adhere to safety standards strictly and specifically with respect to material handling/usage.
- Place high importance on good communication with colleagues and seniors.
- Restrict the use of cell phones to business during business hours except in an emergency
- Take proper care of company assets in your control
- General laydown management, i.e. safety
- Control the security, tidiness and physical order of the materials in the stores.
- Ensure stores are securely locked at all times.
- Ensure stores is kept clean at all times.
- Pack materials in a systematic and chronological order for easy location and counting.
- Control the receipt and issue of items through prescribed source documents.
- Ensure stock items are identified by shelf tags with adequate description.
Qualifications
Diploma or Certificate in Stores Management or any other related qualifications
Experience
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in stores management and ability to work effectively with the whole team and under minimum supervision.
