Job Description
The Role is responsible for ensuring the appropriate supply of cost-efficient materials required to maintain steady production and product delivery by ordering, creating, and maintaining inventory schedules, coordinating with internal departments, and managing external stakeholder relations. Optimize Working Capital through managing levels of Raw Materials while eliminating Out of Stocks
- Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesProvide long-term rolling forecast (6 months) and 13-week operational forecast to suppliers of Raw Materials.
- Validate forecast for Raw materials against the production plan.
- Place orders for raw materials and expedite.
- Ensure on time and in full delivery of orders for raw materials by timely placement of orders.
- Monitor stock levels daily, communicate risks for out-of-stock, and expedite late deliveries.
- Ensure adherence to stock keeping days for raw materials against the stock keeping policy.
- Review and keep Production & Planning Master Data updated.
- Compile weekly raw material stock report.
- Verify raw materials availability against production requirements.
- Track variances between forecasts and liaise with vendors accordingly to determine any adverse impact on business.
- Provide regular feedback to vendors on performance and implement action plans for sustainable improvements where required. Monitor monthly delivery to plan.
- Conduct monthly meetings with all suppliers.
- Form part of the new product launch team for management of any packaging material changes.
- Interfaces with manufacturing personnel, the purchasing department, the warehouse, and scheduling on material status and production planning issues.
- Manages MRP stocking levels for raw materials to meet production schedules. This includes routinely monitoring material usage data to adjust stocking levels.
Business Planning Capability (DDAS, DDMRP, S&OP):
- Review inter depot transfer recommendations in DDMRP.
- Ensured that all Planning Master data integrity in DDMRP is maintained.
- Review & validate recommended raw material orders in DDMRP.
Manage the Supply Route Matrix
- Short-term supply grid balancing of raw materials in the event of special cause impacts (e.g. line breakdowns)
- Manage New and Discontinued Products Plan.
Materials Management and Supplier Development
- Management of all Raw materials supply.
- Management of the supply and inventory holding of Concentrate, with a well-developed working relationship with TCCC’s Concentrate Plant.
- Ensuring raw material availability for the plant call off.
Manage Export Volume
- Manage raw materials for production for the export market.
Manage Team
- Professionally conduct oneself to ensure a good working relation and constant communication with teammates and line manager.
- Conduct routine meetings with stakeholders: weekly raw materials review meeting and monthly production review meeting.
Judgement and decision-making
- Decisions on supply requirements and stock movements to ensure production fulfilment.
- Decisions on the buffer of raw materials to hold
- Skills, Experience & EducationGrade 12, O level with 5 credits or better
- Bachelor’s degree in economics or finance/Statistics/Business Administration/Commerce/Industrial Engineering /Certified Business Forecaster/relevant analytical field.
Advantageous
- CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management)
- Purchasing & Supply Professional
Experience
- Minimum 2 Years’ experience, with at least 1 year in FMCG.
- Experience in using an ERP system
- Supply Chain experience.
Ideal:
- 3 Years’ experience, with at least 2 years in FMCG
- Manufacturing Planning experience.
