Chilanga Cement, Ndola Plant, is looking to recruit a dynamic, motivated, enthusiastic and qualified individual to take up the role of:

1. QUARRY SUPERINTENDENT (x1)

Overall Mission of the Role:

The Quarry Superintendent will be responsible for managing safe, efficient and cost-effective quarry operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling and quarry development activities. The role ensures implementation of mining plans, SOPs and operational standards to achieve production, quality, safety and environmental targets.

Main Responsibilities:

• Managing quarry operations in compliance with company safety standards and local regulations
• Implementing approved mining plans and quarry development activities
• Supervising drilling, blasting, loading, haulage and overburden removal operations
• Ensuring quarry production targets are achieved in both quality and quantity
• Monitoring contractor performance and equipment utilisation
• Ensuring implementation and compliance with quarry SOPs, job aids and safe work procedures
• Coordinating with maintenance teams to improve equipment availability and reliability
• Supporting quality control initiatives through drill hole sampling, bench mapping and raw mix optimisation
• Monitoring environmental compliance relating to dust, vibration, noise and water management
• Preparing quarry operational reports, performance updates as well as statutory reports
• Leading, coaching and developing quarry supervisors, drillers and contractor employees

Education Background & Experience:

• Advanced Diploma/Degree in Mining or related field
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ relevant quarry/mining experience
• Valid Blasting Licence
• Valid First Aid Certificate
• Experience in drilling, blasting and quarry operations management

Behavioral Skills:

• Good understanding of quarrying and cement manufacturing processes
• Knowledge of mining plans, blast design and shot-firing practices
• Strong understanding of quarry safety and environmental requirements
• Ability to optimise quarry productivity while maintaining safety and quality standards
