Zambia Sugar Plc. is a subsidiary of Illovo Sugar Africa (Pty) Ltd Group and is the leading sugar producer in Zambia. Its main activities are the growing of sugar cane, the production and marketing of sugar and other sugar downstream products.
The company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions under the Commercial Department:
1. REGIONAL SALES MANAGER – NORTH x1 – PERMANENT
Location: Lusaka
Reports to: Commercial Director
Purpose of Role
Responsible for achieving sales volume and revenue targets through implementation of sales strategies and plans in the region and effective leadership of the sales team.
Key Performance Areas
- Effectively lead execution of the ABFS Sales Way across different trade segments in the region
- Develop and implement regional sales plans to achieve agreed sales targets
- Develop and strengthen customer relationships in the region
- Implement actions to enhance customer service and satisfaction
- Work with the Route to Consumer (RTC) Manager to implement, review and optimize RTC strategy and performance, including identifying & developing footprint expansion & market penetration opportunities
- Collaborate across the Commercial team and other functions to drive effective sales and customer service execution
- Provide input into the country Commercial strategy
- Prepare sales budgets and updates to deliver regional Commercial objectives
- Review and update demand plans monthly for the region in line with market dynamics and sales ambitions
- Implement agreed pricing strategy & drive customer adherence
- Lead, develop and manage performance of the Sales team through effective sales management routines, coaching and development of capability
- Monitor and report on consumer, customer, and competitor trends in the market
- Promote and adhere to ABF Sugar’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC)
- Liaise and advise Company Stores on material orders from the department by raising orders according to approved budget, stating quantity, type, and timelines, and following through until delivery
- Monitor requisition movements for materials by receiving requisitions from sections, forwarding to appropriate departments, keeping accurate records, comparing requests with budgets, and advising users
- Execute any other duties assigned by the supervisor from time to time
Minimum Specifications / Requirements
- Full Grade 12 Certificate
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration / Commerce / Marketing / or equivalent qualification
- Preferably 7 years’ experience in Sales, preferably in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector
- Must possess sound business acumen and problem-solving skills, with strong customer and results focus
- Ability to communicate, build relationships and influence others; ability to lead and motivate others
- Ability to plan and organize, and work effectively under pressure
- Must possess a clean and valid driving license
- Must be a paid-up member of the Zambia Institute of Marketing (ZIM)
- Suitably qualified applicants must provide certificates verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA)
2. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT x1 – PERMANENT
Location: Ndola
Reports to: Regional Sales Manager – North
Key Performance Areas
- Ensure timely handling of payments by checking and processing invoices and claims for payment and recording them
- Compile and keep records of stationery and office consumables procured and used in the department
- Monitor budgetary allocations against usage by the department; control and advise sections on consumption against budget and stock availability
- Advise on disposal of obsolete materials
- Ensure administrative services are in place and implemented accordingly
- Arrange travel, accommodation, meals, and allowances for staff in the department
- Take minutes at Commercial team meetings
- Supervise general housekeeping/ maintenance of buildings and surroundings
- Consolidate weekly and monthly departmental reports by compiling information from all sections
- Attend to all staff welfare by liaising and coordinating with HR, SHERQ, Security, Finance, IT, etc.
- Be main point of contact for all repairs and maintenance at the depot: electricals, plumbing works, office furniture, outdoor surroundings; coordinate with Procurement, Civils, SHERQ to conduct works
- Manage leave plans by consolidating leave plans for the department and ensuring adherence by staff
- Liaise and advise Company Stores on material orders according to approved budget and follow through to delivery

Minimum Specifications / Requirements
- Full Grade 12 Certificate
- Diploma in Business Administration / Marketing / Commerce. A bachelor’s degree will be an added advantage
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in marketing / sales / supply chain management
- Must be computer literate with excellent Microsoft Suite skills
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, solve problems, pay attention to details, and work effectively under pressure
- Strong customer centric orientation; professionalism with good communication skills, and ability to influence internal functions and clients
- Certificates must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA)
