Reporting to the Coordinator- Planning & Reliability, you will be responsible for coordinating with departments to ensure the efficient movement and availability of materials. You will oversee the evaluation of all materials sent to the Maintenance and Production departments, prepare and monitor shipping schedules, and assess production plans to determine material requirements Additionally, you will ensure that all necessary documents, drawings, and records are accurately maintained for material deliveries and support the development of effective work schedules.
Your duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:
- Liaise with Planner, Scheduler and supervisors to obtain material resources and services from other scheduled tasks.
- Responsible for extracting the required management reports to provide feedback on status of materials and services.
- Daily review of material status report (MSR) to ensure compliance with delivery due date
- Liaise with Logistics Department for alternative material resources and services.
- Attends the various Commercial and Supply chain forums to keep abreast with current practices.
- Attends Business Unit standards meeting. (Planning and Scheduling Meetings)
- Policy
- Ensure that the business unit is familiar with the procurement procedures and policies, together with Work Management, to ensure that efficient service levels are maintained.
- Compliance / Governance: Safety & Health, Environment and Community Management System, legal, regulatory, Security, Budget, Company values
- At schedule acceptance meeting give feedback to Scheduler on critical delivery issues that may affect Required Date.
- Using strong operational experience and your knowledge of the plant equipment to support the plant operations and maintenance supervisors, achieving the stated standards, production goals and availabilities for the units, sections, and LMC at large.
- Coordinate parts (materials) and labour contractors but not limited to the following responsibilities.
- Ensures correct receiving, checking, labelling / and binning procedures are followed in respect of Work Orders.
- Specify date to move resources to work location for shutdown and corrective jobs.
- Manage the Horizontal Transport & Vertical Transport arrangements to ensure timeous delivery of material to workplace
- Coordinates the return of tools and surplus materials, Inventory Control, Review inventory levels with Inventory Controller and Review new material requirements with Inventory Management
- Monitors the delivery of Work Package Bins to ensure timeous off-loading and de-stuffing at workplace and return of surplus bins to collection point
- Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful procurement of resources allowing the scheduling of work orders for completion by their Required Date
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 School Certificate
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years (combined) relevant experience in resourcing/planning and execution in mechanical or related field.
- Member of Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
- Must be computer literate with proficiency in MS Office.
- Sound knowledge in parts and Mechanical work execution preferably.
- Plant Maintenance Systems (SAP–PM) module understanding.
- An ability to develop an effective working relationship across all levels of the organisation.
