Tax Advisory Assistant
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare tax advisory assignments across Income Tax, VAT, Payroll Taxes, Customs & Excise, and Withholding Tax.
· Perform technical research on domestic and international tax matters, including double taxation agreements and cross-border structures.
· Support in reviewing legislation, preparing technical opinions, and drafting tax memoranda.
· Ensure all deliverables are accurate, clear, and aligned with regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.
· Must be conversant with the ZRA online portal and operations.
· Support senior advisors in client meetings, follow-ups, information requests, and engagement planning.
· Assist in preparing presentations, tax alerts, and knowledge-sharing materials for internal and client use.
· Maintain organized documentation for engagements, ensuring confidentiality and proper file management.
· Contribute to a collaborative, supportive team environment by proactively sharing information and assisting colleagues when needed.
Requirements
· Degree in Accounting, Economics, Law or a relevant qualification.
· A professional qualification (e.g., ZICA, ACCA, CIMA, ADIT) is an added advantage.
· At least two years practical experience in a similar role.
· Strong understanding of Income Tax, VAT, Payroll, WHT, and Customs & Excise provisions.
· Working knowledge of international tax principles, especially double taxation agreements.
· Demonstrated proficiency with the ZRA online portal and related processes.
· Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication.
· Demonstrated ability to set goals and develop priorities to ensure that work is completed with a high degree of accuracy within the context of completing deadlines.
· Good communication and interpersonal skills.
· Team player.
