Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in food Processing, Aquaculture, Fisheries, Production Management, Operations Management, or any related field.
- Full Grade 12 Certificate
- Minimum of 3 Years work Experience and experience in an FMCG will be an added advantage.
- Must be a registered member of the relevant professional body.
- Academic Credentials must be certified with ZAQA
Job role
- Ensuring employees are at their station on time and throughout the shift
- Ensuring permission is granted for employees to leave their station
- Reporting on efficiency and work completed. Reporting on weekly and monthly performance and challenges
- Planning for the following day, week, month and quarter is done effectively
- Ensure quality and speed of work is optimized
- Ensure all SOP’s and rules are adhered to by their team
- Understands the concept of a bottleneck and ensure their sections do not become a bottleneck.
- Order and issue equipment used, and ensure they are not wasted or lost and expected lifespans are achieved
- Ensuring the team is always wearing required PPE and that H&S and hygiene standards are adhered to
- Handling team discipline and performance.
- Handling leaves and team absence schedules and planning to achieve the target.
- Coordination and teamwork with other middle management staff and sub departments
- Understands harvest target for the day.
- Understands FIFO and adheres to this.
- Escalating issues, they cannot solve immediately and effectively
- Holds good morals and fixes or intervenes in problems seen outside of their section or department
- Ensures grading stations are arranged ahead of time for the workday
- Ensure graders are allocated to specific stations and teams are assigned accordingly for an extended period
- Ensure the flow of fish is good to the stations utilizing the flag method
- Cross check temperatures of fish to ensure cold temperature is maintained
- Ensuring each team grades one box to completion before raising a flag and proceeding to the second box
- Cross checks and reports on the accuracy and speed of grading
- Ensures no fish is sitting on the stations and that it moves onto the next step effectively
- Ensures ice and slurry reclaimed is circulated back to the receiving station or ice slurry preparation station and not wasted
- Ensures cleanliness is maintained in the station throughout the shift and thoroughly cleaned after the shift
