Job Purpose

The Head of Retail Products will lead the development and execution of the retail banking product strategies. This role is responsible for driving the product innovation and go-to-market strategies to ensure a competitive and profitable retail banking product offering. The position will collaborate closely with various internal stakeholders, including sales and distribution, segments, marketing, operations, and technology teams, to align retail product offerings with market needs and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership

  • sDefine and drive the product strategy for retail banking.
  • Ensure the retail banking products align with the overall business goals and regional market dynamics.
  • Develop and execute the product roadmap to enhance profitability and customer experience across multiple channels (branch, digital, mobile, etc.).
  • Lead the strategic development and launch of new retail products and services tailored to the diverse Zambian markets.

2. Products Development & Management

  • Lead the design, development, and management of a diverse product portfolio (e.g., savings, loans, credit cards, digital banking, etc.) aimed at meeting the needs of different customer segments.
  • Drive innovation and ensure the product offering remains competitive, leveraging market insights, customer needs analysis, and industry trends.
  • Optimize existing products to improve customer experience, increase market penetration, and drive revenue growth.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with other functions such as Segments, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Risk, and Technology to ensure product success from inception to market launch.
  • Partner with digital banking and innovation teams to drive the adoption of digital-first products and services in line with customer expectations and digital trends.
  • Collaborate with distribution teams to ensure the seamless execution of product strategies across the country.

5. Business Performance & Reporting

  • Monitor product performance and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership on the progress of the product strategies.
  • Take corrective actions when necessary to address product underperformance.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field. Additional certifications in Banking, Leadership, or Digital Transformation are a plus. A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in retail banking, product management.
  • Proven track record of managing and growing retail banking product portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of digital banking trends, customer experience, and financial services innovation.
  • Extensive experience in market analysis, customer need analysis, and targeting strategies.
  • Exposure to regulatory frameworks and compliance within the financial services industry.
